Harleen is an Intellectual Property (IP) Lawyer and Registered Trademark Agent at Gowling WLG, where she delivers strategic legal advice to identify and protect her clients’ IP assets on a global level.
Dual-qualified in New York and Ontario, Harleen brings a diverse legal skillset to her practice. Her natural inclination to be well-read and technically sound is instrumental in enhancing brand equity and securing trademark protection, providing guidance on copyright infringement, and advising on IP transactions and matters related to patent protection. Her clients benefit from her dedication to identifying and protecting the full spectrum of IP rights available as well as her agile technical understanding, cultivated from her Biomedical Engineering background.
In her practice, she counsels clients across a range of industries and sectors including health and wellness, consumer goods, software and applications, transportation and safety, telecommunications, credit unions, and medical devices with a particular emphasis on FemTech to address health and wellness challenges that solely, disproportionately, or differently affect women.
Harleen volunteers as a mentor for the Women’s Legal Mentorship Program, is a member of Women’s Law Association, and is committed to deepening her own understanding of equity and propelling success in others.
Harleen has co-authored an extensive article series detailing the practical effect of the comprehensive legislative changes to the Canadian Trademarks Act of 2019 for Lexis Practice Advisor, a prominent industry resource directed to practitioners in the trademark field. She also frequently speaks at innovation events as well as to universities and academic audiences.
When not practicing law, Harleen can be found in nature with her three young children, making sense of the digital mountain of photographs and videos dominating her virtual space, and aspiring to create healthy treats.
